Pro Re Nata

One of my favorite things about traveling is experiencing a new place like a local. My sister, Cali, moved to Charlottesville, VA about a year ago, and has since found her favorite restaurants, watering holes, and local attractions. We have very similar palates and taste in entertainment, so I was excited for her to show me around.

Sunday afternoon, the weather was beautiful and we all wanted an excuse to have a cold beer outside. We decided the conditions were perfect to visit Pro Re Nata Farm Brewery. Set just out of town, the scenery was beautiful and the atmosphere was just what we were looking for. The first thing that caught our eye was the outdoor bar and "patio" structure built from shipping containers.

We each grabbed a drink and headed to a food truck parked on the premises to have a snack while we enjoyed the weather.

Their nachos were no joke.

One of the things I enjoyed most about Pro Re Nata was the family (and dog) friendly atmosphere. It was fun watching families play ball with their kids while enjoying a beer on the patio. It almost had a Back Yard BBQ vibe to it that suited the mood perfectly.

We finished our nachos but weren't quite ready to leave, so we ordered another round and enjoyed the company, scenery, and weather. It was difficult to choose from their extensive menu, so I was happy to go back for seconds.

Pro Re Nata was opened by Dr. John Schoeb and his best pal Andrew Messina, and translates to 'As Needed'. On this Sunday afternoon, it was just what the doctor ordered.
